If you take a look at Domino’s Pizza‘s twitter feed there is something unusual about their more recent tweets. It seems Domino’s Pizza was tongue tied and left it up to a flood of pizza emojis to broadcast their latest feature that will ease the pizza ordering process. The strategy, being both visually impacting, unexpected and most importantly entertaining, seems to have worked generating a number of retweets and favorites.
Domino’s Pizza, alongside other companies from the food sector, have been exploring the possibilities that mobile technology and social media offer to enhance the customer experience and engage with clients. The tweet-to-order option has moved their social media savvy up a notch. Ordering a pizza will soon be just 140 characters away. And if that weren’t simple enough, one emoji pizza tweet will also do.
The true mechanics behind the system are as follows: You have to register your twitter handle on your Domino’s Pizza Profile and then tweet the pizza emoji or #EasyOrder to @Dominos. A direct message from @Dominos will confirm your order and shortly a pizza will arrive at your doorstep based on the Easy Order preferences saved in your profile. If there is any confusion about ordering, a landing page has been set up where pizza lovers can explore the various mobile options for ordering a pizza. (http://anyware.dominos.com)
