Battersea Dogs & Cats Home presents their latest campaign “Who Needs Who?”, a convincing case for pet adoption. In this moving advert Battersea provides ample evidence that we truly need animal companionship. The advert story runs through a sequence of personal stories from a freelancer who works from home and enjoys feline company to a canine companion that brings happiness and equilibrium to a sufferer of chronic depression. The advert portrays just how fulfilling the owner/pet relationship can be.
By threading together human anecdotes, Battersea creates a relatable argument for those who might otherwise not consider adopting a pet. They pivot away from a more reprimanding and imposing position that could make pet adoption seem an obligation and appeal to our emotional side and the human need for company.
In general, Battersea triumphs when creating compelling advertising material, and they have run a number of successful and innovative campaigns. They also don’t shy away from testing new methods and technology to reach potential audiences.
